12 Moon Cycle Indigo Dyed Cotton Bandanna

Materials:

• Our Cotton bandanna is made from 100% lightweight cotton,size 60x60cm . Patten to the edge is 8.5cm.

Natural indigo:

• Dyed in natural indigo 18 times to get this dark beautiful shade.

Technique:

• We use the shibori technique; each piece is hand folded to create 12 moon shapes before going to the indigo vat. Therefore each piece will have small colour variations which also makes them unique.

12 Moon Cycle Indigo Dyed Cotton Bandanna is made by The craftswomen make the bandannas are from Southwest China at the foot of the Himalayas, in the small traditional indigo workshops including myself, mostly are from local farms.  The heritage, skills, and passions for traditional crafts are a way of life.

Care as a face cover:
Wash after each use in minimum 60 degree celsius. Avoid contact with unwashed hands.  Re-pleat if necessary and iron. Store in a clean sealed bag ( included in packaging). As a bandana: Wash with cold water and a light detergent before line drying. Do not bleach. Because of the deep rich blue of this artisanal hand dyed indigo, this piece will naturally age like denim, adding character.

Patches are a mix of new and vintage indigo fabric. All natural indigo dyed using ancient resist paste techniques. All scarves and patches are hand cut and sewn. Vintage indigo patched scarf is made from Increasingly rare examples of Lan Yin Hua Bu can still be found in the country side villages, dating back 60 to 100 years. The cotton was hand woven, which is no longer made and gives the cloth a unique texture and feel. The fading was achieved through the years of use and being hand washed on river stones. Rectangular cloths: these were traditionally bed covers, often given as wedding presents or for children’s bedding. The symbols and designs were to wish long life, prosperity and a happy life together or good luck with the exams. There are 2 styles of cloth pattern:
  1. Narrative pattern with symbols of good luck arranged with a central medallion

Hand-made, plant-dyed natural calico cotton with pattern created through an ancient method that uses hand cut patterns with a resist soy bean and lime paste technique. Care
